Sun Peaks resort is the second largest ski area in Canada. To many Canadians British Columbia is the best place to live and Sun Peaks may as well be this special location. It offers winter and summer activities. The permanent population is about 1,000 residents (2020), but it changes when winter arrives and thousands of visitors come to enjoy sports activities. Even with so many visitors coming every year, there are no lineups to take chair lifts. Perhaps during the last two weeks of December and over the New Year it gets busy with wait times up to 5 minutes or less depending on the time of day. With a replacement of Crystal Chair with a new chair lift (keeping the name) there should be no lineups at all – at least this would be our hope.

Sun Peaks Wringer and Tumble Dry runs.
With three mountains to explore, you will often have the runs to yourself in complete solitude. This is the Morrisey side of the mountain facing North.
Sun Peaks - entrance to Cover Shot ski run.
Cover Shot gets very popular because is an easy black run and it often has very good snow condition. You will have to ski here in the morning to make those first tracks. Most skiers start a day on the other side of the resort – the side in the full sunshine as seen in the picture. This is the Morrisey side of the mountain facing North so there is less sunshine.
